After being cut off from alcohol service at a local bar, a man became irate and threatened to hit a bar patron with a guitar, according to a charging affidavit by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Road House Bar inside the Bulow RV Resort, located at 3345 S. Old Kings Road in Flagler Beach, on Friday, July 20, in reference to a fight.
One victim, a 71-year-old man, told deputies that Jeffrey Patterson, 56, of Flagler Beach, swung the guitar and struck another victim, a man who was attempting to diffuse the situation, in the head, which left a large cut above his left eye. Patterson and the 71-year-old man then got into the a fight, leaving the victim with minor scrapes on his arms and elbows. Patterson left the scene and returned to his nearby residence.
Bruce Cox, who works at Road House, was the only person not intoxicated inside the bar who was willing to complete a statement. He confirmed that Patterson became angry when refused service, that he started an altercation with the 71-year-old man and that Patterson swung a guitar at another victim.
The guitar in question had visible damage, and there was blood “all over the sidewalk in front of the door to the bar,” according to the affidavit.
Patterson was taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility and charged with aggravated battery.
