3:55 p.m. — Intersection of Clyde Morris Boulevard and Richel Drive
False ID given to law enforcement officer. A 36-year-old Daytona Beach man gave police his brother's name instead of his own when an officer initiated a traffic stop because he stopped midway through the white traffic line at a nearby stop sign. The man said he didn't have his driver's license on him, and the officer ran the name in his system, finding that the photo that came up, though close in resemblance, did not really match the man.
Also, while at the driver's side window, police report the officer noticed an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The man told the officer his girlfriend had smoked in the car the night before but that there was nothing in his vehicle. During the officer's search, instead of narcotics, he found the man's wallet with his real driver's license inside.
He was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail with a $2,500 bond.
7:51 a.m. — 4000 block of Ridgewood Avenue
Trespass. A 54-year-old homeless man was arrested after police found him inside a dumpster in a local plaza, having just defecated inside. Police asked him what he was doing, and the man replied that he had to urinate and had no other place to go.
Police noted it appeared the man had been sleeping next to the dumpster in a cardboard box. He was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail with a $500 bond.
3:31 a.m. — 3800 block of Nova Road
DUI. Police arrested a 37-year-old Port Orange man after an officer noticed him swerving while driving southbound on Nova Road, riding up the curb and into the sidewalk for about 75 feet. When he was stopped and asked where he was coming from, the man said "somewhere."
He initially told police he had not had any alcohol that night, but he couldn't tell the officer what the color his eyes were. The man said he hadn't looked in the mirror recently, police reported. After the field sobriety tests, which he failed, he was placed under arrest. He then told police he was coming from "a night out of fun" and that he was out partying and did not remember where he went or what he did.
Later, he would say he had been partying at the Rockn' Ranch in Holly Hill. He was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail with a $1,000 bond.
