With a packed parking lot at Flagler Palm Coast High School, the E.W. Anderson Athletic Center was jammed for Flagler Schools' Back-to-School Jam from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 28.
Over 2,500 students and families explored extracurricular options and school resources. The attendance was greater than last year's jam, said Sabrina Crosby, Flagler Schools administrative coordinator of communications and special projects.
With the first day of school for Flagler County students approaching on Aug. 10, the district provides this annual event to help students get connected and parents get prepared.
Crosby said over 50 vendors, including community resources, health services, tutoring resources, bike safety, child safety programs and a variety of sports programs, tabled information to guests. All Flagler County schools were also represented. In addition, the district's transportation, technology and food services departments were on site to provide families with resources.
A new addition to the event was registration for Flagler Christmas Network, an endeavor aimed at helping local families during the holidays by coordinating existing programs to offer assistances to them.
