Nicole Guarino has vivid memories of curling up on the couch at her grandmother’s house to watch “The Price is Right,” the CBS show where contestants compete to win cash and prizes by guessing the pricing of merchandise, with her family.

She watched the show every day.

Nearly three months ago, Guarino achieved a life-long dream when she walked across the stage and participated in the game show. Her show aired on Monday, June 4.

To get on “The Price is Right,” Guarino went online a few months in advance to order tickets, which are on a first-come-first-serve basis. After she received the tickets, she went through a pre-screening class, where the show’s staff got to see the personalities of each of the contestants and how they would act on stage.

Guarino, who graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in entertainment management, knew what to do.

“They wanted to see that you knew the show and could be enthusiastic,” she said. “They don’t want someone who’s there just to be on TV.”

During the taping of the show, she was the second-to-last person to be called on stage. But once she got on, she won big.

Guarino, who currently lives in Los Angeles where she works in the entertainment industry, won $2,000 and a laptop in the first game she played. She went on to win two showcases, earning trips to both Paris and Mexico, a Toyota Corolla and a Hyundai Elantra.

She had to wait three months until the show aired before she could tell anyone about her prizes.

“It doesn’t seem real,” Nicole said. “Until I have the two cars in front of me, I’m not going to believe it’s real.”
