Debra Keese, registrar at Cypress Creek Elementary School, has received the 2018 Superintendent’s Outstanding Achievement Award from the School District of Volusia County and the FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools.

According to the School District, Keese has 20 years of experience with Volusia County Schools and is "an expert in her job role and is readily available to lend a hand wherever there is a need."

Keese received the award along with Sherry Shepherd, a school bus operator in the DeLand area. Keese and Shepherd were named the winners out of 24 nominees.

In a letter of recommendation from Assistant Principal Rebecca Pitchford, Keese is described as making the school a better place “through her creativity, intellect, thoroughness, efficiency, personality and willingness to do whatever it takes.”

The award was started as a way to honor staff members who have demonstrated outstanding commitment, teamwork, cooperation and innovation in their jobs.

All 24 nominees will be honored at a breakfast on Thursday, Aug. 30 hosted by FUTURES.
