Battery touch/strike. Police arrested a 31-year-old man, who officers at first believed was the victim, not the perpetrator, of dating violence, after his boyfriend told them the full story of how the defendant got all the injuries to his face.
His boyfriend told officers he and the defendant had been drinking all day and that it led to the defendant calling his ex-boyfriend and asking for money. When the ex-boyfriend declined his request and asked him to "not call him ever again," the defendant began an argument with his boyfriend, who attempted to leave when the defendant began to choke him with his own necklace.
The defendant's boyfriend told police he acted in self-defense and began to punch him out of fear. Initially, before police tracked down the victim, the defendant had told police his boyfriend began the physical altercation after he asked for his ID and social security.

DUI. A 55-year-old Ormond Beach woman was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI and battery on a law enforcement officer, after she kicked an officer in the groin and told all the male officers at the scene that they had small genitals while being placed under arrest.
Police responded to the scene after a civilian called the non-emergency number after he found the woman slumped over the wheel of her vehicle. When officers arrived, they noticed two open cans of alcohol in the driver door. Officers also noted that her license was for business purposes only and asked her whether she was on business.
The woman said she drove to see her husband and was going home, and she asked them to follow her. When officers declined, she attempted to light a cigarette but was unable to find a lighter. She had to be physically restrained from leaving the scene, leading to officers having to use pepper spray to stop her from kicking the door of the patrol vehicle.
The woman refused to submit to a breath test and in the end was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Criminal mischief. Police arrested a 59-year-old Ormond Beach man after what initially began as a heated dispute over dirty dishes ended in a crushed phone and misdemeanor charges.
Police report the defendant and his roommate began arguing after his roommate confronted him over the dirty dishes in their sink. While face to face, the defendant spit on his roommate and grabbed his phone and "slammed it to the ground." The defendant then kicked it for extra measure.
His roommate wanted to pursue charges. The defendant was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
