Basil “Buddy” Cook was one of two people named the Joe Petrock Auxiliary Volunteers of the Month for April and May 2018 by local charitable organization Halifax Health - Auxiliary.

A Port Orange resident, Cook was named the Volunteer of the Month for April 2018. An Auxiliary member since 2009, he is a courtesy cart driver who begins his shift of picking up patients and employees starting at 4:30 a.m. at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach.

“Buddy is truly appreciated for the service he provides," Liz Dusz, president of the Halifax Health – Auxiliary, said in a prepared statement. "He arrives early Monday mornings to pick up our guests who can’t quite climb the hill to our Fountain Building entrance. He is a very special volunteer."
