On Friday, June 22, a search warrant was served at the residence of 3809 Cherry Grove Court by the Port Orange Detective Bureau for narcotics, specifically methamphetamines, after the Port Orange Narcotics unit investigated complaints of the drug activity.
The search warrant was conducted with the assistance of the Volusia County Meth Response Team. The search produced two grams of methamphetamine product and approximately 51 grams of methamphetamine oil. Two children, ages 8 and 9, were removed from the home and placed into the care of the Port Orange Police Victim’s Advocates and later turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families. The following residents were placed under arrest and transported to VCBJ:
Amber Cooney, 43, for child neglect, possession of listed chemicals for manufacturing methamphetamine in a structure with children under the age of 16, culpable negligence, renting a structure to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
James Phillips, 60, for manufacturing methamphetamine in a structure with children under the age of 16, culpable negligence, violation of probation, renting a structure to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Floyd Robert Phillips, 58, for manufacturing methamphetamine in a structure with children under the age of 16, culpable negligence, violation of probation, renting a structure to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
