Ormond Beach resident James Holcombe plans to run for City Commission to represent Zone 4, a position currently held by Rob Littleton, in the upcoming November election.
Holcombe said in a press release that he runs a small online business where he carries a large online inventory and fulfills the needs of customers around the world. If elected, he will work to educate citizens about recent events and future votes and then use their feedback to guide his decisions. To do so, he said he would establish daily open communication with the residents and host monthly events for people to be able to talk to him.
Holcombe added that there was some controversy revolving around him, as he was arrested in December of 2015 during a Volusia County Sheriff's Office sting over the resale of used gift cards. He was charged with racketeering, conspiracy to racketeer and dealing in stolen property.
His trial date is set for July 16. He has entered a not-guilty plea and said evidence and facts presented at his trial will acquit him of all charges.
