The Port Orange Farmers Market at the Pavilion took place as usual. But on Saturday, March 17, there was one addition — a large orange wall covered in pieces of paper.

Each piece of paper started with "I will share happiness by:" and was followed by multiple responses filled in by people throughout the day. Some people wrote they would share happiness by caring for others, while some wrote they would share happiness by smiling. Many children simply drew pictures on their piece of paper.

"All you've got to do is look at these kids and their joy," Ken Beauregard said. "We need more of that in the world, just less negativity and just more of that childhood innocence. You can see these kids filling these out and drawing and smiling and it's an amazing day. It's very very rewarding."

This was a way to celebrate the International Day of Happiness, which has taken place on March 20 every year since 2013.

The "Wall of Happiness" in Port Orange was being hosted by Sue Goldberg, whose anti-aging company is owned by Jeff Olson, the founder of Live Happy Magazine and the reason the wall was in Port Orange. This was the third year Goldberg has hosted the Happiness Wall.

"There's just so much negativity in the world," Goldberg said. "This is all positive. There are so many little things that make a difference in the world. The happier you are the more happy things will come to you in life."

For Jerry Moquin, happiness means family and the wall was a way to combat negativity.

"One day of happiness throughout the year is an amazing thing," Moquin said. "It helps you share happiness, it makes you feel better. It makes the world a better place."
