Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland is challenging residents to get outdoors and get active. The mayor’s 30/30 Challenge will kick off Saturday, March 24, and continue for 30 days through Monday, April 23. The challenge is to move at least 30 miles in 30 days — an average of one mile per day.
Participants can choose their own form of exercise and will log their success through the city website at palmcoastgov.com/healthy. It’s free to sign up and participate. Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a prize during the Arbor Day Celebration in May. Call 986-2323.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly will be patrolling the streets and serving warrants to public officials and participating citizens to raise money for the Relay for Life at the second-annual Jail’n Bail on March 23.
Staly will “arrest” the participants and transport them to “jail” at the Hilton Garden Inn where they will have to make bail (via donations to the American Cancer Society) in order to bond out.
The Linda Vestal Foundation of Palm Coast is offering a scholarship to one deserving high school graduate for 2018. The applicant should have a career interest in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice.

Community Policing Division Chief Paul Bovino graduated from the 271st session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on March 16. Less than 1% of all law enforcement officers receive the invitation to this prestigious 10-week academy during their careers. Sheriff Rick Staly graduated from the 177th session of the FBINA and was in attendance for Chief Bovino’s graduation.

Angela Nicols, longtime volunteer of the Apopka Historical Society, Museum of the Apopkans and other community activities is now retired to Palm Coast to be near two of her five children.
She was recently presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles. Nicols celebrates many years of experience in her professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field.
With nearly 40 years of experience in the field, Ms. Nicols most recently served as the owner of Nicols Consultant, a computer consultancy and training company, from 1995 to 2015, and with the Apopka Historical Society, serving in several roles between 1994 and 2015.
Palm Coast Community Church welcomed Will Wight, author of “The Traveler's Gate Trilogy” and “The Elder Empire,” as a speaker on Sunday, March 18. Wight is a Flagler Palm Coast High School graduate and UCF alumnus. He's now a bestselling author with almost half-a-million books sold.
The Palm Coast Yacht Club now officially has a new home at the Pine Lakes Golf Club after a plaque presentation event on March 13. The Yacht Club sold their building at 1 Yacht Club Drive on Dec. 31, 2016, and have been meeting at the golf club ever since.
Flagler County Horse Shoe Pitching Club is hosting the Flagler Spring Fling Open Horse Shoe Tournament on Saturday, March 24 at Old Dixie Community Park, 1250 S. Old Dixie Highway, Bunnell. Tournament starts at 9 a.m. and will continue through at least 4 p.m.
Famed artist Bettie Eubanks gifted her painting "Covered by the Flag" to the African American Cultural Society during the AACS general meeting on Feb. 24.
