Monday, April 2

Retired Educators meeting

When: 11 a.m. 

Where: Education wing of Florida Hosiptal Flagler, 60 Memorial Medical Parkway 

Details: Retired educators and the public are invited to the presentation by Bethune Cookman University. Call 246-6966.

 

Tuesday, April 3

Birds of Flagler County

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Hammock Community Center, 79 Mala Compra Road

Details: Jason and Mary Giraulo of the Flagler Audubon Society will show guests the birds they can find in Flagler County and specifically in the Hammock. Snacks and socializing starts at 7 p.m.

 

Atlantic Coast Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State Meeting

When: 6:30 p.m.

Where: meeting room of Flagler County Public Library, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway NW

Cost: Free

Details: Flagler School Board Member Colleen Conklin and a director from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will discuss “Public Money for Public Schools: How the State of Florida siphons tax dollars from public schools to fund CHOICE options owned by private corporations and religious entities.” call 804-914-4460.

 

April 6-7

Parkview Baptist Church rummage sale

When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days

Where: Parkview Baptist Church, 5435 Belle Terre Parkway

Cost: Food and drinks will be available for purchase

Details: To support Emmanuel’s Closet, Whispering Meadows Ranch and Family Life Center, the church will hold a rummage sale. Donations may be dropped off noon to 7 p.m. April 3-5 at Parkview Church. Looking for gently used clothing, toys, athletic equipment, small appliances, furniture, jewelry, books, CDs, candles, glassware, kitchenwares, shows, hats, belts and working small flat-screen TVs. Saturday, April 7

Award-winning plein air artist presentations and reception

When: 1-3 p.m. artist presentations; 5-8 p.m. reception

Where: Ocean Art Gallery, 206 Moody Blvd., Flagler Beach

Cost: Free

Details: Ocean Art Gallery will hold an art opening reception for 13 of Florida’s award-winning plein air and studio artists who will showcase their unique art styles in an exhibit titled “Fabulous Florida.” The artists in this exhibit, which will end with a closing party from 6-8 p.m. on May 4, will be Trish Beckham, John Caggiano, Kathleen Chenet, Priscilla Coote, Charles Dickinson, Rebecca Eagan, Cynthia Edmonds, Sally Evans, Martha Lent, Peter Pettegrew, Morgan Samuel Price, Gary Rupp and Tom Sadler. Seating is limited to 30. Reservations are suggested. Call 693-4882.

 

Rise Against Hunger

When: noon to 3 p.m.

Where: Matanzas High School cafeteria, 3535 N. Old Kings Road

Cost: Free to volunteer; donations requested

Details: Matanzas High School Interact Club will host Rise Against Hunger, an international organizational dedicated to eliminating world hunger by 2030, to create a meal packaging event where Interacters and other community members will package 14,000 meals. Interact has been tasked with raising almost $5,000 in order to host the event, so they are looking for community help and business sponsors.
