The force was with the students at Pathways Elementary School on Friday, May 4 — known as May the Fourth, a day that celebrates all things Star Wars.
All grade levels rotated time outside for the school's annual walk-a-thon throughout the day. For the last few years, the school has combined the Star Wars Day celebration with the walk-a-thon to give students a fun theme to dress up for. Students who raised $30 or more were given green May the Fourth T-shirts.
Instructional coach Heidi Gabriel said all the money raised from the walk-a-thon will benefit students and classrooms at Pathways. The top 10 student fundraisers — who raised about $10,000 all together — will be awarded with a celebratory lunch, limo ride and miniature golf day later this month.
