“The best advice that my mom ever gave me was … to always do the right thing and treat others like you want to be treated. That I can do anything that I want to do as long as I put my mind to it and want it bad enough.”
“Don’t let the past determine your future. Always do your best. And whenever you feel alone know that I’m always here for you.”
“My mom has given me many words of advice over the years, but her best advice was not given by her words, but rather through her actions. My father passed away from stomach cancer in 2009. My mom stayed true to her vows 'through sickness and in health' and stood by my dad’s side until the very end. What our family didn't know was that my mother also received the news that she had breast cancer. We didn't know yet because she didn't want my father to have to worry about her. After my father passed, my mom started her own battle. The advice my mom gave me throughout my entire life was to always to remain positive and believe in yourself. She put her words into action when she had to grieve the loss of her husband and fight for her own life. She never complained; she still checked up on my brother and I because she knew we were grieving, and she always smiled. She went through a double mastectomy and woke up with a smile on her face and a light in her eyes. Her positivity was contagious and it helped me remain so positive. She has a strength that I can't describe and she has shown me how to believe in myself. It is because of her that I know that nothing is impossible. I don't think there are any words of advice that she could give me that could top what she has shown me.”
“There are no guarantees in life. Some people take risks while others are too afraid of the risks. It's very difficult to keep the faith and continue to try new things when old things aren’t working. But if you never try you will never know. Find someone to work for that treats you right and compensates you for what you do. It means the world to be appreciated.”
“Best advice my mom ever gave me was to be real, not fake. ‘Don't lie; always tell the truth. Don't worry if you don't fit in. Everyone is unique.’ To sum it up, ‘just be yourself’ and ‘always be kind.’”
