A crash between a motorcycle and an SUV on U.S. 1 on the afternoon of Friday, May 11, left two Flagler County residents in critical condition, according to a report by Florida Highway Patrol.
At about 5 p.m. Friday, Tyler Patrick Anderson, 25, of Palm Coast, facing northbound on U.S. 1, was preparing to turn his 2002 Chevy Tahoe left into a private driveway. William Robert Westervelt, 53, was driving his 2009 Harley Davidson southbound on U.S. 1 on the inside lane. Anderson pulled pulled out into the Westervelt’s path and struck the rear of the motorcycle, according to the report. The motorcycle came to rest on the west grassy shoulder of U.S. 1. Anderson’s vehicle came to a controlled stop in the parking lot adjacent the private driveway.
Westervelt and his passenger, 48-year-old Kimberly Dawn Boyer, of Palm Coast, were taken to Halifax Health with critical injuries.
Anderson had no injuries.
