A group of Port Orange Elementary School students had a special lunch during their school day due to their hard work fundraising for a sunshade.
On Thursday, May 17, 29 students were treated to a ride in two limos, one bright pink and the other a sleek black with gullwing doors. The students had raised more than $200 each and were being treated to an outing at Chuck E Cheese's as part of their prize.
However, all of the students at the school had been able to raise more than $12,000 for a sunshade that will be installed in the school's PE court.
"They have been looking forward to this for such a long time," Julie Mckissick-Kirton, Port Orange Elementary physical education teacher, said. "It's very exciting."
