Moment of panic

12:51 a.m. — 500 block of Andalusia Avenue

Fleeing/attempting to elude. A 24-year-old man was arrested for attempting to flee from an officer who began to follow him after he saw the man driving 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. Police report that at one point, the driver turned off the vehicle's head lights while attempting to lose the police officer.

The man told police he panicked because his driver's license is suspended and the vehicle's tag did not belong to it. He said he made the decision to flee because he thought he would go to jail if he was pulled over and called himself an "idiot" for causing the incident.

Regardless, he was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail after being apprehended in the driveway of his home in Holly Hill.

Between father and son

Battery touch. Police arrested a 24-year-old transient man after receiving a report about a fight in a parking lot, during which the man reportedly punched his father in the face.

The man — whom police report was intoxicated, had a swollen eye and kept spitting blood out of his mouth — told officers he and his father had been arguing but that it had never become physical. He blamed another person for his current injuries. That person, a witness to the fight, reported that the man and his father were living with him prior to that night when they decided to leave.

The witness said the father and son duo began to fight as he dropped them off in the parking lot. Shortly after police arrived, the man's father arrived at the scene on foot and with his face covered in blood. He told officers that "a man was allowed to tussle with his son" and to let his son go.

The man's possessions were given to his father, and he was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Walmart ban

7:08 a.m. — 1500 block of W. Granada Boulevard

Possession/use of narcotic paraphernalia. A 66-year-old woman was issued a trespass warning stating she would be subject to arrest if she ever returned to Walmart after an altercation in the parking lot with a man caused to her to jump on his back, grab his neck and fall backwards into the pavement. She received a cut on her right pinky finger in the process, police report.

Police report the woman wanted him out of her vehicle but the man was unable to find his phone. While searching for it, he looked through her purse, leading her to jump at him. Officers would later find a crack pipe in her purse. Since the woman and the man are friends, he declined to pursue battery charges.

He was also banned from Walmart.
