Difficult season comes to an end with blowout loss to DeLand

The Sandcrabs scored at the end of the game to avoid a shutout.

DeLand scored 35 points in the first half against Seabreeze to force a running clock on the night of Friday, Nov. 2, at Spec Martin Stadium. The Sandcrabs gave up over 200 yards passing to former Seabreeze quarterback Jadyn Nirschl, who transferred from Seabreeze to DeLand after his junior year.

However, the Sandcrabs were able to move the ball 60 yards on the last drive of the game, capped off by a 3-yard touchdown run from Harold McKay to avoid a shutout. 

The Sandcrabs, which dealt with the transfer of several key players earlier this season, dropped their last five games and finished the season with a 1-9 record. The Sandcrabs' lone win came against Pine Ridge on Sept. 28.

In head coach Troy Coke's third season with the team, the Sandcrabs averaged 6.4 points per game while surrendering 28.1 ppg.
