After opening 80 years ago as a Hollywood filming destination, Marineland Dolphin Adventure will return to theaters in the forthcoming film “Bernie the Dolphin” and its just-announced sequel, according to a news release.
“Bernie the Dolphin” is a family adventure that filmed at Marineland in February 2018. The movie tells the story of a Florida brother and sister and their mission to save their favorite beach and dolphin friend, Bernie. Marineland dolphin Aqe appeared as the film’s namesake.
Bernie will debut in theaters and on demand Dec. 7. The production of "Bernie the Dolphin 2" was announced on Nov. 1.
Marineland guests will have the opportunity to view the filming of Bernie 2 in person at the park this December. The public is also invited to a special, red-carpet screening of “Bernie the Dolphin” with the movie’s stars Dec. 16 at the Epic Theater in Palm Coast.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office recently partnered with local schools to gather supplies for those affected by Hurricane Michael. The seventh- and eighth-graders at Imagine School at Town Center wrote touching notes of encouragement to go along with the supplies gathered.
The Nearly New Fashions for You Benefit Fashion Show and Luncheon raised more than $3,750 for Flagler Beach’s Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and the Nearly New Thrift Store. The fashion show was held on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Halifax Plantation Golf Club, seeing more than 200 in attendance, according to a news release.
The show included more than a dozen models in a variety of clothing categories such as casual wear, tennis and golfing attire and evening wear. All fashions came from the Nearly New Thrift Store, located at 400 S. Daytona Ave., Flagler Beach. For more information, contact Linda Kuepper at 264-5277.
Faithful Navigator Anthony Gasparino and the 2018-19 slate of officers for Corpus Christi Assembly were formally installed by District Deputy Dan Nagy on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Spiritual Director Brother Patrick Gemmato from the Carmelite Monastery offered the opening and closing prayers at the ceremony. A reception and dinner in the Santa Maria del Mar Parish Hall was hosted by Claudia Gasparino following the officer installation ceremonies.
Julie Davis, of Palm Coast, shared a photo of Wyatt and Scout Davis holding up a copy of the Oct. 25 issue of the Palm Coast Observer. “Love our Palm Coast Observer,” she said in the Facebook post.
The Palm Coast Arts Foundation is now in the running to bring a 10-week live music series to Palm Coast in 2019. PCAF hopes to qualify as one of 15 winning organizations competing in the Levitt AMP Grant Awards.

The top 25 finalists will be selected through online public voting. The Levitt Foundation will then review the proposals of these 25 finalists and will select up to 15 Levitt AMP winners, which will be announced on Dec. 18.
