Flagler Palm Coast entered Round 1 of the FHSAA playoffs on the heals of a two-game losing streak — the first of head coach Travis Roland's career at FPC.
However, the No. 7 seeded Bulldogs didn't feel like the underdogs when they took on No. 2 seed Winter Park on the night of Friday, Nov. 9, at Winter Park High School. However, the Wildcats sent the Bulldogs home with a 34-7 beat down. It was the second straight year the Bulldogs exited the playoffs in the first round.
The Bulldogs and Wildcats were scoreless after the first period, and the Bulldogs were only down 7-0 entering the third quarter. A touchdown pass by freshman quarterback Preston Roberts to Jordan Belle tied the game with 7 minutes left in the period. However, the Wildcats scored on an 81-yard pass on the ensuing drive.
Two pick-sixes by the Wildcats' defense in the second half put the game out of reach.
The Bulldogs (7-4, 2-2) concluded the 2018 season with three straight losses.
