First Baptist Christian Academy played in the middle school state championship game against Newberry on Friday, Nov. 9, in Bunnell.

Tied at 26 in the final minutes of the game, the Crusaders made a big stop on defense to give their offense the ball with 48 seconds left in regulation. Quarterback Dennis Murray handed the ball off to running back Elyjah Gilyard for a 7-yard gain on the first play. Murray then overthrew Gilyard on second down. And on third-and-3 with 29 seconds on the clock, Jordan Mills caught a pass 30 yards downfield for the game-winning touchdown.

"Those 16 kids will never forget that 1 minute in their life," Crusaders coach Charlie Washington said in a release. "Oh what a night."
