Omega Research was established in 2006, with offices in DeBary, Maitland, Orlando, Daytona Beach (pending) and now Palm Coast. Omega, the city's first medical research facility, is planning on doing a ribbon-cutting ceremony/open house to introduce themselves to the community in the near future.
The research facility does a variety of studies, including: flu studies, UTI studies, overactive bladder, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, Lupus, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and more.
For every study participated in, the patient will receive a physical and lab work at no cost, and the patient can send the results over to their primary care physician. Each patient must sign a consent form, which details what the medication is, what the goal of the study is, how much time it will take to participate in the study, how much they will be compensated and the possible side effects.
"I know how much of a small tight community Palm Coast is," said Megan Finkelstein, Omega's patient recruitment specialist. "I am very eager to be part of something that I think is going to bring such a change to our city.
