The Ormond Beach City Commission recently recognized Boy Scout Troop 468 during its meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Past boy scouts in the audience were also asked to stand up, among them City Commissioner Dwight Selby representing Zone 1. Troop 468 is sponsored by the First United Methodist Church in Ormond Beach.

Mini-golf festival coming soon

The Great Kids Learning center's annual Pirate's Cove Miniature Golf Festival is coming up on Friday, Oct. 19. 

It will take place at the Pirate's Cove Miniature Golf Adventure location at 226 Cardinal Drive. The festival will feature four-player scrambles at 5:45 p.m. and regular mini golf fun starting at 6:30 p.m. The entry fee for the festival is $10 per person and will include 18 holes of mini golf, a meet and greet pirate photo session, a treasure hunt and other fun activities. 

CCW planning for upcoming activities 

Plans are underway for Prince of Peace Council of Catholic Women's major annual fundraiser, the 37th-annual Arts and Crafts Show, which will take place from Saturday, Oct. 27 to Sunday, Oct. 28. 

For the months of October through April, the CCW will continue to meet on the second Tuesday of each month for a regular business meeting, followed by a social with refreshments. The meetings start at 7 p.m. inside the Social Hall at 606 S. Nova Road. The CCW is also planning a membership tea at 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 4, for the women of the parish to learn more about the community activities the council performs.
