Residents can reach "food nirvana" at Jimmy Hula's, which is opening this spring.

The Winter Park-based restaurant chain, which features a surf shack theme, has been a huge success in the area, said Jose Cifuentes and his wife, Vanessa, who opened the Ormond Beach location in 2016. The franchise location is a consistent top performer each month among all Jimmy Hula's locations in Florida, and they're eager to find the same success in Port Orange.

" … We set franchise records for largest single grand opening week in company history and highest-grossing month of sales in company history,"  Cifuentes said.

Construction is underway at 65 Dunlawton Ave. The restaurant, measuring about 3,600 square feet, will seat approximately 150 people between its indoor and outdoor dining areas and employ about 50 workers.

The menu will feature fish tacos, island-style burgers, soups, salads, craft beer and wine. It also will have a full liquor bar, which is only found in select Jimmy Hula's locations.

This will be the 16th Jimmy Hula’s in Florida and the second in the Daytona Beach area.
