Woman hit by Volusia County deputy patrol car near Ormond Beach

The woman is in critical but stable condition, VCSO reported.

A Volusia County deputy crashed his patrol car into a 38-year-old woman on the 1900 block of Hand Avenue around 7:26 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9. 

Volusia County Sheriff's Office reported in a press release that the woman was in "critical but stable condition" at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. The 21-year-old deputy, who was hired in 2017, was placed on administrative leave with pay. No additional details about the crash were released.

VCSO stated that the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and that any other details regarding the crash will be released at FHP's determination.
