Hurricane Michael may have passed, but the work is not over.

The City of Port Orange announced on Oct. 12 that it will send a single engine with four members and two strike team leaders to report to the Tallahassee Emergency Operations Center, according to a press release. The unit will arrive at 8 a.m. Saturday to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. The hurricane made landfall on Oct. 10 in Mexico Beach as a high-end Category 4 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 155 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

This is in response to the state's emergency response plan, and it is a regional effort with Daytona Beach, Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach and Ormond Beach, according to the city's press release. The deployment is estimated to be seven to 10 days.
