After their best defensive performance of the season in a close contest against Atlantic, the Sandcrabs (1-7, 1-2) gave up two touchdowns to New Smyrna Beach's Einaj Carter and another to Zazion Hudson, as the Barracudas took a 20-0 lead into the locker room on Friday, Oct. 12, at Daytona Stadium.
The Sandcrabs' offense managed 15 total yards in the first half and were outgained 279-76 in the 23-6 loss.
Seabreeze's sophomore quarterback Isaiah Shirley ended the shutout when he scored from a yard with nearly 2 minutes to play. He finished with 55 yards on 23 carries.
"It was a tough loss," Sandcrabs coach Troy Coke said. "The difference was, I think, some big plays, especially in the first half."
He added that he thought the defense did as good a job on Carter as any team this season.
"They're a good football team, and we didn't play well enough to beat them," Coke said.
