Palm Coast resident Leila Abdusattarov won the Little Miss Spectacular America pageant. She also won Miss Congeniality at the pageant. She previously earned the title of 2017 Little Miss Flagler County and 2018 Little Miss Florida, which led her to the Little Miss Spectacular America pageant on Sept. 27-29.
Leila is a fourth-grader at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Palm Coast. The 9-year-old has been competing in pageants for three years.
Three students from Indian Trails Middle School were chosen by teacher recommendation to participate in the Stetson University Honors Chamber Winds and Percussion Festival. Alexis Rausch, Jordan Stitz and Bradyn Cox traveled with music teacher David Morden to DeLand for the day on Saturday, Sept. 29.
They started the day with a brief chair placement audition and broke up into percussion, woodwind and brass ensembles. The students then attended master classes on instrument fundamentals led by music education students from Stetson, and they then rehearsed in their ensembles in preparation for a concert that evening. The day ended with each group performing two pieces each for their families.
“All three of our students had a great experience and were able to share some of that with our other band members here at ITMS,” Morden said in an email. “For them, meeting and hearing students from other parts of the state can be very motivating.”
