Bucs smash NSB to clinch 25th-straight playoff bid

Mainland defeated the Barracudas 43-0 on Friday, Oct. 19.

Taron Keith tossed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as Mainland routed New Smyrna Beach 43-0 to the clinch District 13-6A on the night of Friday, Oct. 19, at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex. The win ensured a 25th-consecutive trip to the playoffs for Mainland.

After a sloppy performance against Matanzas the week prior, the Buccaneers' offense took less than a minute to find the end zone against the Barracudas. Keith capped off the 80-yard drive with a quarterback keeper for a 24-yard score. Keith's two touchdown passes were to receiver Ra'Mello Dotson.

In addition, Da'Onte Ireland took a shovel pass from Kamron Lee for a 23-yard touchdown to give the Buccaneers a 32-0 lead at halftime.

Mainland (6-3, 4-0) earned a first-round home playoff game on Nov. 9 against one of four regional wild-card recipients.
