With welcoming scents and bright colors, flowers can make anybody smile, said ART among the FLOWERS owner Ginny Niebauer.
As part of a national movement called "Petal it Forward," which is sponsored by the Society of American Florists, a floral shop in Palm Coast decided to spread little pieces of joy around town on Wednesday, Oct. 24, by passing out 600 individual bouquets to locals.
Guests were encouraged to stop by the shop located at 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite C103, to pick up two small flower arrangements — one to keep and one to give to a stranger, a coworker or anyone of their choosing.
"They're out right now promoting flower power, how flowers bring joy to people," Niebauer said. "Anyone knows that flower language. Even if you don't speak English, you give someone a flower, it puts a smile on their face."
In addition, employees spread the love around City Marketplace and across the street in the Winn-Dixie shopping area off of Cypress Point Parkway by handing the flowers out to local business workers and customers.
"This is my passion. I love flowers, and I love the sentiment behind them," Niebauer said. "For florists, it's not just the flowers; it's the customers and their sentiments, their card messages that go out, and what it means for the sender to send and the receiver to receive. And so, it's a very beautiful business to be in."
The store is planning to host a festive open house sometime in December, filled with coffee, cake, cookies, decorations and more. To stay up to date on the floral shop's happenings, head to its Facebook page "ART among the FLOWERS."
"We want to let people know that we're a local florist here in town," Niebauer said. "We've only been here for two years, so we're trying to get the word out that we're in the City Marketplace Shopping Center."
Call the store at 283-5213.
