11:36 a.m. — 300 block of South Atlantic Avenue
Operating with a suspended license. A 38-year-old man tailgated a police officer in a motorcycle, causing the officer to switch lanes and initiate a traffic stop after he determined the man was going above the speed limit. The man told the officer, "I was trying to flag you down because I'm looking for the CVS."
The officer asked to see his license and registration, and the man handed him a paper with all his information, saying he was attempting to transfer his license from North Carolina to Florida and that all his documents had been previously stolen. Via the agency Tele-Type, the officer discovered the man was a sex offender, a violent felony offender and was on probation out of Daytona Beach.
His GPS tracking device had been cut off, police report, and was found near the beached shrimp boat on the shore. He was taken to jail.
8:06 p.m. — Intersection of South Ridgewood Avenue and Tomoka Avenue
Disorderly conduct. Police arrested a 40-year-old Ormond Beach woman who was standing in the intersection, blocking traffic and yelling at those who passed by her. When police arrived on scene, the woman was cursing at a man standing in his own front porch.
One of the officers recognized her as a known local meth user, and identified her behavior as similar to those currently on meth. The woman was placed into police custody and officers found meth in a baggie inside her wallet. She was taken to jail.
4:41 p.m. — 500 block of North Beach Street
Battery touch. A 55-year-old woman punched her husband's arm after she saw he had destroyed their ceiling fan in the aftermath of an argument. Her husband had ripped the fins off the fan, police report.
Police report the woman told officers that she found her husband already drunk and drinking vodka when she got home from work. They got into an argument over a social media post, she said, and when she went to the kitchen to deescalate the situation, her husband ruined their fan.
The man told police he had destroyed it because he believed she wanted a divorce. His wife was taken to jail.
