Sweetwater Elementary PTA Annual Golf Scramble
When: 8:30 a.m. shotgun start
Where: Cypress Head Golf Club, 6231 Palm Vista St.
Details: The cost is $65 per player or $260 for a group of four. Entry includes a continental breakfast, range balls, golf, after-play luncheon and prizes. All money raised at the event funds Teacher Mini Grants to help buy books, computer learning programs, testing supplies, playground toys, musical instruments and other classroom necessities.
Military Order of the Purple Heart Volusia County Chapter 316 monthly meeting
When: 1:30 p.m.
Where: 5810 S. Williamson Blvd.
Details: This is the organization’s monthly meeting. People can join at the meeting by bringing their DD 214.
The Rotary Club of Port Orange – South Daytona presents its 12th annual “Aces High” Casino Night fundraiser
When: 6:30 to 10 p.m.
Where: The Shores Resort and Spa, 2637 South Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach
Details: This year’s theme is a “Speakeasy,” so attendees are encouraged to dress in flapper dresses and zoot suits, and try their luck at roulette, slot machines, craps, Blackjack, bingo and more. Tickets are $45.00 in advance and $50.00 at the door. Purchase includes $2,000 in chips. A separate Texas Hold ‘Em tournament will be held for an additional $50 buy in. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be offered, and raffles and cash prizes will be awarded throughout the night. Money benefits local youth scholarships and Rotary charities.
