Palm Coast firefighter-paramedic Julie Rivera and volunteer intern Brandon Davis were recognized by the Columbian Club of Flagler County for outstanding service during the club’s tribute to first responders on Aug. 25.
A firefighter with the Palm Coast Fire Department since 2015, Rivera was selected for excellence in service and for her involvement in many of the department’s infrastructure programs. Davis originally joined the Palm Coast Volunteer Fire Department in 2005, serving nearly five years, before moving to St. Augustine. He re-certified as an EMT in 2013 and as a volunteer intern firefighter in 2017.
The Flagler Palm Coast High School Formality Singers have launched an effort called “Formality Feeds Flagler” to collect nonperishables for Flagler Beach United Methodist Church’s food pantry, which is currently empty, said Libby Keen, group member.
“They give two bags of food to the families that live in Flagler Beach that need them because they were deeply affected by the hurricanes and are still having issues paying for all of the repairs and affording food for their families at the same time,” Keen said of the church’s food pantry efforts.
Items needed include: canned foods, cereal, flour, pasta, rice, sugar, vegetable oil, peanut butter, beans and juice. Those interested can donate at the church, located at 1520 S. Daytona Ave., Flagler Beach, year-round, but the Formality Singer’s food drive goes until Sept. 29.
First Baptist Church of Bunnell is excited to welcome Rev. Ethan Crowder and his family to the church and the community. Rev. Crowder’s first day on staff is Sept. 10, and his first Sunday service as senior pastor is Sept. 16.
He is currently working on his master of theology with a concentration in preaching at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Grand Knight Patrick Mulvihill and the 2018-19 slate of officers for the Notre Dame Council 10514 were recently formally installed by District Deputy Dan Nagy during a reception in the Santa Maria del Mar parish hall. Father Kazimierz Ligeza, council chaplain and pastor of Santa Maria del Mar Church, officiated the installation.
