Live Like Cameron, a Flagler County nonprofit formed in memory of Cameron Fulling (who died from cancer at age 9), is holding its first 5K to support local children battling cancer.
The fun run/walk will be at 8 a.m. Sept. 29. All proceeds will benefit Live Like Cameron, which provides financial assistance to Flagler County families battling childhood cancer and provides Bags of Hope to children battling cancer while hospitalized.
September is Childhood Cancer Month, and all runners are encouraged to wear gold in support of all the children battling cancer.

The only thing that looked different about a group of soon-to-be firefighters honing their skills at the Flagler County Fire Tower was that their helmets were Bulldog green.
Students participating in the Flagler Palm Coast Fire Leadership Academy spent Thursday, Aug. 30 dressed in full firefighter gear during fireless training exercises to prepare them for future careers as first responders.
Sydney Adams, a junior, was among the first enrolled for the program that started the second semester of the 2016-17 school year.
“I definitely want to be a firefighter,” she said in the release, after practicing Advancing Initial Attack Hose Line exercises to gain experience maneuvering the hose and directing the water stream. “This is a wonderful opportunity.”
Palm Coast resident Mabel Dunbar celebrated her 104th birthday surrounded by friends and family at the George Wickline Senior Center in Flagler Beach on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Born in 1914, Dunbar is an active member of First Baptist Church of Palm Coast and still worships with energy, despite having passed the century mark.
The Rotary Club of Palm Coast is celebrating its 30th anniversary by inviting everyone to celebrate the “stars” that help make this city a special place to live.

Palm Coast resident Hildegard Benedick is 87 years old, but that hasn’t slowed her down on the dance floor. As a dance student with Classic Ballroom Dancing in Daytona Beach for three years, Benedick walked away from the U.S. Ballroom Championships in Orlando in early September with seven medals.
“She is remarkable and is in great shape,” Classic Ballroom Dancing owner Felix Solis said. “Her dancing keeps her fit and young.”

Central Park at Town Center was filled with inflatables, food, crafts, games, photo booths, face painting, music and a raffle with baskets sponsored by each grade level during the Imagine School at Town Center’s first fall festival on Saturday, Sept. 8.
The ISTC Parent Teacher Organization Board and Fall Festival Committee, led by Christina Moore, planned the event for months, recruiting close to 50 volunteers (all from ISTC families) and many local businesses to support the event.
“The fall festival was a wonderful opening activity for our school’s community both to fundraise as well as to draw Imagine families together,” said Principal Lisa O’Grady in a news release. “The PTO and fall festival committee were so thorough, professional and organized. I couldn’t have been prouder to be a part of the Imagine family on Saturday.”
