CSS Fireplaces and Outdoor Living, 1459 N. U.S. 1, Unit 8A, celebrated their one-year anniversary with a ribbon cutting by the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce. Also known as Construction Solutions and Supply, the store offers indoor and outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, custom outdoor kitchens, grills and seamless gutters.

Things have changed over the years in the industry. For example, linear fireplaces, which mount horizontally in a wall, are available as well as the traditional style. They can have river rock, drift wood, etc., and function as a piece of art.

Wood-burning, gas and electric are all available, and the homeowner has the option of turning off a vent if heat is not desired.

“People like the ambience of a fire but not the heat always,” said Kathy Shaffer, sales representative.

Outdoor kitchens are a big part of their business, according to Dan Spilde, outdoor sales.

Much of their products are from manufacturers, but they also do custom work, such as making a firepit match the outdoor kitchen.

“It’s nice when you can help a person create their vision,” Spilde said.

The main store is in Jacksonville. Call 463-2700.

New pizza shop opens

Five Star Pizza has opened 294 N. Nova Road in The Trails Shopping Center. The franchise has operated in Palm Coast for five years, and the owners selected Ormond Beach as a good place to expand.

“We wanted to stay close,” said co-owner Jeffrey Kriesen.

They currently offer carry-out and delivery and plan to add tables. They make their dough fresh daily, use Wisconsin mozzarella cheese, fresh vegetables and sauce made from fresh tomatoes.

Kriesen said they look forward to getting involved in the community, such as sponsoring sports teams like they do in Palm Coast.

Call 492-8060.
