The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has been working with the TV show "Cold Justice" on the case surrounding the disappearance of George Contos, according to a news release by the FCSO.
A missing person report was filed by the family of Contos on May 20, 2015. Circumstances surrounding his disappearance indicated foul play may have occurred. The investigation has been underway for the past three years. It was highlighted in the episode "No Safe Return" on Saturday, Sept. 15, on the Oxygen channel. The show updated the case and revealed details of the investigation to the public.
“The airing of [the] 'Cold Justice' episode has given our investigators another chance to get tips from the public," Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release. "Somebody knows more than they are saying, and they have an opportunity to do the right thing."
Detectives are asking that any information be submitted through Crimestoppers, and Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of persons involved in the disappearance of Contos, according to the release.
In addition, the case is being investigated as a homicide, and because it's an active investigation, the FCSO cannot release any further information.
“Our detectives have done an outstanding job investigating this case," Staly said. "Help us give George Contos and his family justice. We will not rest until that happens.”
