DUI. After telling police he didn't understand English, a 70-year-old Ormond Beach man asked for an Italian translator during a DUI investigation. Police complied, but the man still refused to submit to a breath test and failed to acknowledge the officer by averting his gaze to the ground.
The man was pulled over by police after an officer noticed one of his rear taillights was out. When the officer approached the Italian man, the officer noticed his "bloodshot watery eyes" and slurred speech. The man failed several of the field sobriety tests.
Police later noted that the man appeared to understand instructions "very well" in the video recording but quickly refused to understand English after being advised of his Miranda Rights. He was taken to jail.

Unlawful possession of cannabis. Police found about five grams of marijuana in a Batman backpack during a traffic stop for an inoperable headlight. The two young men in the car claimed they didn't know what was in the backpack, as the car actually belonged to one of their friends.
The driver also failed to show a driver's license. He handed a state ID card to the officer but explained that he thought it was a valid license because he called the DMV and they told him so. Police reported that the young driver said personnel informed him that "all he needed to do was come down and get his photo taken."
Vape pen cartridges containing THC oil were also found in the backpack. The packages contained a disclaimer that the product was infused with medical marijuana. Neither of the men have a prescription for medical marijuana.
