The Anderson-Price Memorial Building on North Beach Street was filled with music and people enjoying German food and beer on Sept. 22 at the first Oktoberfest, a fundraiser for the Ormond Beach Historical Society.
The beer was provided by the Ormond Brewing Company, co-sponsors of the event, and oom-pah music was performed by The Bavarians, a trio from Orlando.
The money raised will be used by the Historical Society for maintenance of the Anderson-Price Building
“It takes a lot to maintain a 102-year-old building,” said Elysha Petschauer, executive director of the Ormond Beach Historical Society. “It needs constant TLC.”
The roof was recently repaired and the next project will be restoration of the front steps.
Petschauer hopes Oktoberfest becomes an annual event.
The Anderson-Price Building was built in 1916 by the Village Improvement Society, which later became the Women’s Club. In 2002, the building was donated to the Historical Society.
Serving as a community resource through the years, the building is rented to residents and groups for social and business uses.
