Quarterback Taron Keith rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and running back D’Andre McMillian added 58 rushing yards and scored on a 19-yard run late in the fourth quarter to lead Mainland (4-2, 2-0) to a 19-0 victory over a slumping Deltona on Friday, Sept. 28, at Daytona Stadium.
"He really is a dual-threat kind of guy," Mainland coach Scott Wilson said of Keith. "The most important thing about Taron, though, is how dedicated of a player he is. He's truly a pleasure to coach. He's such a good kid."
After starting the season 0-2, The Buccaneers have been on a hot streak, outscoring their last four opponents 121-25.
Mainland overcame 4 turnovers to record its second shutout of the season and second shutout in a row.
Wilson said his team has been banged up the past couple of weeks and now, they're finally starting to get healthy.
"I think that's the key," Wilson said.
