Port Orange man arrested after threatening roommate with butcher knife

After finding out his roommate was a registered sex offender, 61-year-old David Mula pulled a knife on him.

Port Orange Police arrested a 61-year-old man who threatened his roommate with a butcher knife after his roommate refused to leave the residence on Saturday, April 20.

According to a report, David Mula pointed an 8-9-inch knife at Donald Keiser because Mula no longer wished for them to live together after finding out that Keiser was a registered sex offender. Keiser told police that Mula caused a pin-size puncture on his chest with the knife, and, that he then pushed him away into a closet door and grabbed the knife. This caused a laceration between his thumb and pointer finger.

Police report that Mula left the room yelling for someone to call the police, and Keiser hid the knife under his bed.

A witness told police that Mula was complaining about Keiser staying in the residence because he was a sex offender. The witness reported seeing Mula smoke an unknown substance and charge into Keiser's room while yelling for him to leave, as well as grab the knife.

Mula was incoherent and uncooperative with officers on scene, according to the report. He had a laceration to his left forearm, but could not tell police what happened. He was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and transported to jail.
