Details: Palm Coast's love of trees and commitment to environmental sustainability will be celebrated at the 14th-annual, day-long Arbor Day event. This year, the event falls on the pop culture Star Wars Day ‘May the Fourth.’ With that in mind, there will be Star Wars-themed green technology demonstrations featuring drones. A master-certified arborist will be in the tree tent from 9 a.m. to noon, offering free guidance on proper pruning, placement, planting and root shaving techniques. To get a free tree, bring a nonperishable, non-expired food item (human or pet) to trade for the tree while quantities last. The native butterfly release will be at 11 a.m. at center stage. There will be wildlife from the Central Florida Zoo. Back by popular demand is the free paper shredding service. Acceptable items include: staples, paper clips, spirals, notebooks, expired credit cards, check books and folders with small prongs with small amounts of metal/plastic. Unacceptable items include: batteries, three-ring binders, binder clips, hard drives, X-rays and large amounts of metal/plastic. Details: The Rotary Club of Palm Coast will host Cocktails for CART/Karaoke for a Cause in support of Rotary Clubs of North America’s Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust. All donations will go toward cutting-edge Alzheimer’s disease research. Guests can enjoy beer, wine or soft drinks and great food, along with Karaoke for a Cause, a friendly competition featuring the Rotary Karaoke Challenge, presented by Thomas Media Solutions. All profits will be donated to Christmas with a Deputy, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office annual December tradition where deputies shop with local kids.
