Ford and Barreiro finish 1-2 in primary, now face runoff for Port Orange City Council seat

The Port Orange District 1 seat vacated by the late Bob Ford will be decided in June.

The unofficial ballots from the Special Primary Election held April 30 are counted. Marilyn Ford and Lee Barreiro will run against each other for the District 1 City Council seat vacated by the late Bob Ford.

Marilyn Ford won 45.61% of the votes, with Barreiro holding 18.37%.

If Ford wins the June election, she will occupy the position that her late husband held.

Ford’s Election night party was at Houligan’s restaurant.

“I’m gonna need your help for the next six weeks. We can do this.” Ford said. “I really appreciate the support of the team, the support of council. They have been terrific. Thank you.”
