The Flagler Humane Society will host a “Town Howl” event at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to recognize local leaders in animal welfare, according to a news release from the Flagler Humane Society.

The event will feature Florida Rep. Paul Renner (R-Palm Coast), who was vital in the passage of legislation this year to ensure that veterinarians can report evidence of animal cruelty to law enforcement.

This lifesaving measure will help protect animals from abuse and neglect, and Renner is being recognized with the ASPCA's Legislative Voice for Animals award.

The event will also honor Flagler County Attorney Al Hadeed for his years of representing animal control officers in their rescues of animals from abuse, and will recognize local lawmakers in attendance for strengthening animal protection ordinances within Flagler County.

Community members are invited to attend the "Town Howl” to learn more about new laws and pending ordinances and how they can use their voices to speak up on behalf of animals.
