Ed Danko, the social media director for the Flagler County Trump Club, has filed to run for the Palm Coast City Council District 1 seat.

In a news release, Danko described himself as a lifelong fiscal conservative, and said he'd told supporters soon after filing for the race, "I would rather drink anti-freeze than raise your taxes."

Danko, a Navy veteran and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary officer, retired after forty years as a TV news producer and editor for several major networks, because he was "fed up with the one-sided propaganda being peddled by the television networks as news," according to the news release.

He also served as a volunteer firefighter for two years when he first retired to North Carolina before relocating to Palm Coast.

"I know from my own firsthand experience the importance and value of all our first responders," he said in the news release, "and I will always fully support these amazing people 100%."

Danko had reported no campaign contributions or expenditures as of Aug. 12.

The District 1 seat is currently held by Bob Cuff, who was elected in 2016. Cuff has not filed for re-election as of Aug. 12, and no one other than Danko has filed for the District 1 race.
