Seabreachers made its Discovery Channel Shark Week debut on "Shark Week Immersion" on Saturday, Aug. 3, when the Seabreacher Florida Mako Shark and Jet Shark's Great White Shark were featured in the episode.
Seabreachers are a "high-performance watercraft capable of diving 5-7 feet underwater, jumping 20 feet in the air, traveling 60 mph on top of the water and 25 mph underwater," said Kim Barber, Seabreacher operations director and president of Seabreacher Florida, in an email to the Ormond Beach Observer. The boats can also do barrel rolls. They start at $79,000, and are custom-designed and hand-built in Northern California.
To celebrate the episode, Seabreachers creator and CEO Rob Innes and Barber hosted a viewing party at Jimmy Hula’s in Ormond Beach. The episode's featured Mako Shark, the Dolphin Seabreacher and the American Flag Eagle Seabreacher were on display outside. These boats are used throughout Florida for performances, special events and marketing.

The community has lost one of its philanthropists, as Bob Jarvis of the Ormond Beach Lions Club died on Sunday, Aug. 4, leaving behind a legacy of charity outreach.
Prior to his death, Jarvis was honored as the "Lion of the Year" at the club's annual awards dinner held on June 26. He served on the club's board of directors, was a member of its scholarship committee and obtained a gold sponsor for the annual golf tournament fundraiser, according to a press release. Jarvis also signed on as a Conklin Center Tour Guide, served on the Boys and Girls Club's board of directors and was honored on National Philanthropy Day as one of 11 agency champions by the Volusia-Flagler Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
