Palm Coast resident David Morland IV played in the Senior British Open on July 25-28 in Lytham, United Kingdom. Morland played in a Monday qualifier to earn his way into the event. He made the 36-hole cut and was tied for 24th after two days, but a difficult third day saw him fall back down the leaderboard. After that, Morland qualified for the Senior PGA Championship, but he missed the cut.
The Palm Coast Sparrows' 15-and-under girls soccer team won first place at Challenge Sports 3 v 3 Tour National Championships on July 26-28. The team, coached by Matanzas girls soccer coach Pawel Slusarz, won all four of its games and scored a total of 12 points.
The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs' cheerleaders helped spread the cheer by giving back to their community and getting involved with the recreational youth cheerleaders that attended the Lions Tumbling and Stunts Cheer Camps on the weeks of July 15 and July 29 at the Imagine School at Town Center. The Bulldogs demonstrated and taught their techniques and cheer skills.
Palm Coast United Methodist Church is hosting its eighth-annual "Football Sunday" from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Aug. 18. Flagler Palm Coast High School and Matanzas High School will have their football teams, bands and cheerleaders present at the church's 9:30 experience, and Bethune-Cookman University will have its football team and cheerleaders present at the 11 a.m. experience.
