Ormond Beach Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a submerged truck in the Tomoka River near U.S 1.

OBPD Public Information Officer Keith Walker said a woman spotted the white Ford truck while kayaking on the river before 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. The vehicle was not reported reported stolen.

The Fire Department scoped out the truck and did not spot anyone inside, Walker said. A dive team searched the river.

Volusia County deputies contacted the truck owner's wife, who said she had last seen the vehicle parked in a vacant lot near Betty's A1A Cafe on Ocean Shore Blvd. with a "for sale" sign. Deputies then contacted the owner, who said he had seen the truck around 11 a.m. on Aug. 25.
