County officials are preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Dorian as if it were a Category 3 storm, according to Flagler County Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord.
“We always like to error on the side of caution,” he said during a webinar on the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center.
The storm, which is currently projected to be a Category 2 hurricane, is expected to make landfall near Central Florida on Monday, Sept. 2. Lord said sustained tropical storm-force winds can be expected as early as Saturday afternoon.

In addition, Lord said residents in Zones A, B and C should prepare to be evacuated.
“This is a time for the community to come together,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Unfortunately, we’re starting to get used to these hurricanes.”
