Hurricane Dorian is expected to make landfall in east Central Florida late Sunday as a Category 3 or 4 hurricane, and Volusia County's Emergency Operations Center is coordinating efforts with cities and agencies, monitoring the storm, disseminating information and making preparations.
Volusia and Flagler County residents can expect tropical storm force winds beginning mid-day Sunday, a Volusia County press release states. Hurricane Dorian is expected to bring destructive winds, a life-threatening storm surge and flooding rains. The most significant impact is expected to occur from Sunday through Tuesday.
Residents may call the Citizens Operations Center at 866-345-0345 with questions and concerns. The call center is staffed by county employees and will be open until 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 29. It will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, and beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, it will be open 24 hours until further notice.
