AdventHealth has donated over $8,000 of equipment to help prevent and treat heat-related illnesses for Volusia County student athletes, including cold water immersion tubs, ice containers, thermometers and “grab and go” emergency medical bags with equipment for managing heat illness, according to a press release.
This donation is part of AdventHealth’s $2 million partnership with Volusia County Schools. AdventHealth is committed to streamline and coordinate care for the 5,000 student athletes. Last year, the hospital system focused on improving concussion protocols.
In other AdventHealth news, employees at the AdventHealth hospitals in the area collected school supplies throughout the summer months for local students. Nearly 2,000 backpacks and thousands of pounds of school supplies were donated to local children in need, a press release stated.
Food Brings Hope Executive Director Judi Winch recently received a check for $6,548 which was contributed by employees of ICI homes. The money will help support the 37 school programs and other initiatives of Food Brings Hope.
